A number of clues exist that suggest the presence of bots on the networks of large organizations. These networks are precious to cyber-criminals as they contain priceless data of bank or treasury transactions. Moreover, the bots could as well be utilized to seize personal information alternatively to launch distributed denial-of-service assaults, MAAWG reported.
Says Chairman Michael O’Reirdan of MAAWG, ISPs have special worries regarding the problem, as the bot menace involves snatching identities off people. IT departments of large organizations should also be similarly concerned for, such organizations have computers, which travel not only between work and home but also around the globe and do not always have patches installed, according […]

Reimage.com reported this on August 1, 2009.
Experts at the firm noted that hackers, during the past, employed malevolent ‘Blackhat SEO’ or Search Engine Optimization techniques to raise their web-pages higher among the results on major search engines. However, according to Panda Labs, cyber-criminals are now creating search engines of their own so that they may direct users towards rogue websites that distribute viruses.
In this connection, the company reported that a particular search engine that managed to survive had by now drawn about 195,000 users, who were potentially in danger of becoming infected.
Furthermore, Head of Sub-Saharan Operations Jeremy Matthews for PandaLabs said that when the company’s researchers began searching for issues and phrases that cyber-criminals commonly exploited such as […]

Says Trend Micro that cyber criminals utilize high interest and popular events to boost their malicious intentions - in the current incident, to distribute bogus anti-virus (AV) software that Trend Micro has detected as TROJ_FAKEALRT.FK.
This malicious program, according to the company, is a Trojan that can be taken down from remote websites via the use of other malicious programs. It might get installed on users’ PCs when other malware might drop it alternatively a user unknowingly downloads it while browsing malicious websites. Apparently, to download harmful content this Trojan relies on a particular URL. However, […]

Marketwire.com reported this on August 3, 2009.
States the report, malware authors constantly strive towards infecting end-users so that they may snatch control of their computers and/or gain financial benefits. Also, in this venture, there is an increase in Trojan malware that has contributed to some 83% of the worldwide malicious programs detected, the report notes.
Further according to BitDefender, whereas Trojans represented e-threats with the maximum activity during January-June 2009 (H1-2009), the infamous Downadup virus resulted in the maximum destruction to computer users. This virus succeeded in infecting unprecedented 11m computers the world over and appeared in the headlines of numerous mainstream media and computer journals.
Apart from this, BitDefender observed that during H1-2009, the countries that most actively distributed malware included […]

TheRegister reported this on August 3, 2009.
In the endeavor to sieve malware sites, Twitter is receiving Google’s help. Accordingly, Google has lent its ‘Safe Browsing ‘Application Programming Interface’ (API) feature to Twitter that helps client software to examine if the URLs received are malware or phishing pages against a continuously updated blacklist from Google.
Meanwhile, Chief Research Officer Mikko Hypponen at security firm F-Secure who discovered the malware filtering tool on Twitter on August 3, 2009 says that whenever a tweet carries an URL link connecting to a Google blacklisted site, a message appears on Twitter which warns the user that his tweet has a URL connecting to a malicious site, thus reports PCWorld on August 3, 2009.
Subsequently, Twitter deletes the message after keeping it on the screen momentarily.

Threat of different malware waiting for a chance to infect your computer is ever increasing. These harmful bugs are spyware, adware and viruses. You cannot safely connect to the Internet without an appropriate computer security software. If you connect without protection, you will notice soon that your computer’s performance has reduced. This can happen for example, when the register files of Windows are infected. So you need a program, which is able to remove spyware, adware and viruses from your computer.
The Internet provides a conduit by which spyware, adware and viruses can move from host to host. Email, email attachments, peer-to-peer file sharing, instant messaging, and software downloads are the ways computers usually are infected. Today spyware and viruses can attack through multiple entry points, spread without human intervention and take full advantage of vulnerabilities within a system or program.
